Valentine's DIY Gift Ideas

February 5, 2019

Every 14th of February candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones in the United States and other places around the world. Approximately 150 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas. There are many legends on how the holiday started, but we have forgotten and quickly turned the day into an excuse to receive extravagant presents. This year, give your loved ones a gift from your heart rather than a store.

Although many girls are probably expecting a ring, it's become a little cliche to get engaged on this holiday. Save that milestone for another date and make her a gift from the heart that she will cherish forever. Here are a few DIY ideas to really wow your partner.

   1. Memory Maps

Every map can be customized to your relationship. If you're already married, you can use the example above of Where you met, Where you got engaged, Where you said I do, and Where your home is together. If you've only started dating, you can use Where you met, Where your first date was, Where your first kiss was, and First I love you. All you need is a frame, a computer and a printer but this easy gift will be sure to tug at your loved one's heart.

   2. Scrapbook Phone Case

Give the gift of a portable scrapbook that your partner can look at any time of the day and show off to their friends. There are multiple of companies (example, Etsy) that will make a phone case for you; all you have to do is send them your pictures and they will print on the case itself. Or you can make one yourself by buying a clear case, printing the pictures yourself and cutting the page to fit the phone case. Often you don't need to glue the pictures to the case so you can make multiple photo collages that your loved can exchange whenever they want.

   3. Reasons why I love you Box

All you need for this gift is a cute box from your local craft store and plenty of paper. The number of reasons is up to you, you can do as few or as many has your heart wants. Your loved one can open a reason everyday or on a bad day when they need a pick-me-up. This gift will be a guaranteed tear-jerker because it requires a lot of time and thought from the heart. It will be a Valentine's gift that will surely never be forgotten.

Happy Valentine's Day from everyone here at DGVA! <3
